So today I felt like drawing a dragon. I used a reference (which you can find in my recent faves) to draw the head and shade it.
I used Faber Castells to colour this, but since I only have 12 (oh wait, 2 of the got stolen at school >.>), I ouldn't do much for the shading. Plus they dry out in seconds so they leave traces when I colour large areas.
I enjoyed getting into the details of the dragon's skin. I mixed up some colours for the scaly skin (added a touch of light grey and yellow), but I failed in the shading.
Overall, I really enjoyed drawing this, even though it's not perfect.
I like the composition in this piece, i can see a sexy S that looks good on the dragon, also horizont line its well placed. Volume and deep will come with time. But the thing you can improve its that the stroke should follow the form you are trying to pop out, using straight lines in coloring flattens the image. Nice work Has a lot of emotion.
Nice work! Only two things I would change... The sky is, well... bleah. I don't know how I'd fix it, but it's off... Also, the way the boulders are shaded, they kind of blend together... they look very flat.
Lol, funny thing about those boulders... they're clouds. One of my markers got stolen so I couldn't really do what I wanted, but I actually think it woldn't have been any better. I still need to practice a lot with these markers, they're not easy to handle.
